Liaison interpreting
This type of interpretation is used when an easy, agile communication is needed between two people or two groups of people who don’t speak the same language. The interpreter is in the same room as them and translates the speeches as the dialogue unfolds.
It is similar to consecutive interpreting in that the interpretation happens after one speaker has finished talking, but in this case taking notes is not usually necessary, since the aim of liaison interpreting is facilitating a quick communication.
When is liaison interpreting used?
It is very useful for commercial visits, official receptions, factory visits, accompanying a person or a small group of people, etc.
