Consecutive interpreting

Unlike in simultaneous interpreting, in this case the interpreter does not reproduce the speech while the speaker is talking. Instead, they wait until the speaker has finished.

Usually, the interpreter is situated next to the speaker and writes down notes while they give their speech, which the interpreter reproduces when the speaker makes a pause.

In which situations is this kind of interpretation recommended?

It is appropriate for small meetings or for those where a single speaker is making a presentation in front of an audience. It should be noted that consecutive interpreting extends the length of the meeting.
